■Aiming to be a “Machiyado” that interacts with the daily life of the Yamanaka Onsen area
In the Yamanaka hot spring area, there is a hot spring that was once praised as one of the three best hot springs in Japan by Matsuo Basho, and it is still a place where the locals interact with each other. Kaga is also the birthplace of Yamanaka lacquerware, and Kutani-yaki, an internationally acclaimed piece of colored porcelain, is said to have originated in Yamanaka, making it a one-of-a-kind town where you can experience the beauty of Japanese traditions.
However, Kaga City is the only city in southern Ishikawa Prefecture that has the potential to disappear. Young people are moving out, the population is aging, and the economy is in decline. Even in Yamanaka Onsen, which is popular with tourists, the number of empty houses and shuttered stores is increasing.
It is precisely at this time when we need a change in the way of working from the city to the countryside, that we want to proactively tackle the problem of vacant houses, increase the number of people interacting with each other, create jobs, and revitalize the town.
It is with this in mind that we decided to create the “Machiyado”.
The lodgings are rented out entirely without meals.
For dinner, we invite you to go out into the area and taste local delicacies such as izakaya and restaurants with delicious fish, small restaurants, sake bars, and jazz bars.
As for the bath, of course, go to “So-yu: Kiku-no-yu,” which is used by the locals every day.
We would be delighted if you could experience the flow of time as if the locals were living there through LOBBY and GeicoHouse.
(Bath sets, yukata and lockers are available for rent at LOBBY.)
